Limitations

Occupancy figures are useful when people understand what they represent. This page describes the limits of Site Control Occupancy in plain language. The service is an operational support tool. It does not make a site safe by itself.

The system relies on users scanning QR codes

A movement is recorded only after someone opens the correct QR page and confirms the move. If a person walks to another floor without scanning, the recorded current area stays where it was. Training and clear signage matter as much as the software.

Missed scans can affect occupancy accuracy

Busy landings, damaged prints, low phone battery, and simple forgetfulness all produce missed scans. The dashboard will then under-count or over-count an area compared with a physical walk-through.

Users may select incorrect movements

If two QR codes are close together, someone may scan the wrong one. Account Recovery can also be misused if a person deliberately selects another profile. Those actions create false occupancy. The Terms of Use prohibit impersonation and false registration.

Internet connectivity may affect availability

The scan page needs a network connection to identify the user and store the movement. Basement floors and temporary sites often have weak coverage. A scan that never reaches the server is not recorded. The service does not claim uninterrupted availability.

Browser data may be removed

Returning-user recognition depends on browser storage. Clearing site data, using private browsing, switching browsers, or changing phones can remove the identification token. Account Recovery exists for that case. It is not automatic.

The system does not guarantee real-time physical presence

Occupancy is the number of active Site Users whose current recorded area is that area. It is not a live GPS trace and it is not a camera count. There can be a delay between a physical move and a confirmed scan. There can also be a record with no person still standing in that area.

It should complement site safety procedures

During an evacuation or incident, follow the site’s emergency plan, physical headcounts, and instructions from authorized personnel. Administrators may use occupancy as one extra view of who was last recorded where. They should not treat this website as the only accountability system.
